Our research focus is placed on nonlinear vibrations of mechanical systems with friction and impacts.

The central working areas are: 1. Nonlinear Mode Theory, especially development of methods for experimental nonlinear modal analysis 2. Dynamics of Structures with Contact: Development of prediction methods; analysis of complicated nonlinear phenomena 3. Nonlinear Technologies for vibration mitigation, especially impact absorbers

We enjoy the synergetic relation between fundamental research (funded e.g. by the German Research Foundation) and application-oriented research in close collaboration with our industry partners (including MTU Aero Engines). Our work is divided approximately in half between theoretical and predominantly experimental work. Our group currently consists of 1 professor (Malte Krack), 1 postdoctoral and 6 doctoral researchers.
